Growing up, I was never that big into the Disney fairytales. I knew the stories of course, but they never really interested me. I never had a favorite princess or a favorite fairytale. If I had to choose, I would choose Ariel with The Little Mermaid, or Belle with Beauty and the Beast. Lately, I have become more and more interested in the fairytales, both Disney and non-Disney, both traditional and reimagined. When I saw The Isle of the Lost, I knew I had to give it a try. Even though this book is written for a younger audience, I … Continue reading The Isle of the Lost by Melissa De La Cruz
I originally read The Maze Runner a few years ago and really enjoyed it. This time around, I decided to try it as an audiobook which I definitely enjoyed! While I vaguely remembered what happened in the book, it was more of vague feelings rather than real recollections. While listening to the book, I found myself remembering events as they happened, but I was happy to find that I could not remember what happened next beyond a few exceptions. I enjoyed hearing it again as if it was almost new. The characters are easily relatable and I found myself very … Continue reading The Maze Runner by James Dashner

I was browsing the bookstore when the cover of The Dreadful Tale of Prosper Redding caught my eye. Once I read summary on the back of the book, I was hooked. From the first page, I was completely engaged with this book. Reading as Prosper became Ethan, as he grew to know and understand Alastor better, as he realized who his true family is, I couldn’t put this book down. At the beginning of the book, to be honest, Prosper is annoying. While reading, it is easy to get annoyed with Prosper and wish that he would become more mature. As … Continue reading The Dreadful Tale of Prosper Redding by Alexandra Bracken
If you have the choice to either read this book or to listen to the audiobook….listen to the audiobook! Narrated by Felicia Day, I couldn’t stop laughing during the vast majority of the book. I first discovered Felicia Day with her role in Eureka and thought she was incredible and hilarious. When I saw her audiobook on Audible, I knew I had to give it a try. When I saw that it was read by her as well, the decision was simple. Prior to listening to this audiobook, I did not know anything about Felicia Day (sorry, Felicia!) beyond her … Continue reading You’re Never Weird on the Internet (Almost) by Felicia Day
You know the saying “don’t judge a book by its’ cover”? Well, I definitely do. For better or worse, if a cover catches my eye, I want to give it a try. I was browsing Audible one day when this … Continue reading Abby Cooper, Psychic Eye
